Little Snow White a Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale

Little Snow White vs Snow White. Even at the titles there are slight differences between what most people know and the literary tale. Paragraphs:
  • Was the window open? Was she sewing with her project out the window? Why was it open in the winter anyway? And why just three drops? I could understand dreaming about a child.
  • Which also brings up a good point aver how she could have very soon given birth to a child with those specifications. Was she pregnant? Was it a coincidence? Obviously the queen died from childbirth. Why did they only acknowledge her snow white skin; why not her black hair or her red features?
  • In this time period, why would a member of the royalty be dabbling in what would be called black magic? The queen must have had a severe inferiority complex for her to have to have the approval of a mirror instead of a person. How did she even know that the mirror spoke the truth? For all she knew it could have been toying with her.
  • In this version snow white is only seven years old versus Disney’s fourteen when the queen sends her away.
  • Could the mirror just have gotten bored with assuring a living person that they are beautiful?
  • Wasn’t she already married into the highest stature a women could due to her beauty, so why was she so afraid of her step-child?
  • Why did she want her heart? Didn’t that time period have an obsession with bringing back heads or skulls as tokens? Wouldn’t this just torment the poor huntsman that has to carry out this order on a child.
  • Also, why was it her beauty that made the huntsman stop, not her age, not her innocence, not that she was royalty? Also, if he thought that the animals would hurt her then why did he not kill her to provide a quick death? Although I could understand being relieved that he did not have to do it anymore, he just let her run off to a seemingly worse fate.
  • I take it back, now I know why she wanted the heart. That is honestly disgusting. Eating human body parts causes huge issues within the body. From personality to even the cellular level. We are not meant to eat each other. This could not have helped her disposition.
  • As a princesses Snow White would have never been to a forest unless for a picnic or game. So, this experience would have been similar to a nightmare for someone who had never seen or heard the forest creatures.
  • Why did the animals not harm her? Of course, animals tend to leave humans alone for the most part.
  • Why did she drink from every cup instead of one? That makes no sense. Why was she so picky about beds? She didn’t have much choice.
  • The dwarfs have not said their names in this tale. Also, why did the seventh dwarf sleep an hour with each of the others? That’s not very practical.
  • The dwarfs are so sweet in this tale. They do not ask for much inreturn for her being there. They were also careful to warn her about her step mother. Although, how do they know that she will be found deep in the forest? It does not mention her telling them of the mirror. They kind of remind me of father figures.
  • The poor huntsman. He would have been killed on the spot for deceiving the queen.
  • Snow white is only seven, so of course she does not listen, she is just a child. That the queen wants to kill a child. Her husband’s child. It is despicable.
  • The second time she tries to kill her, but first of her trying personally. It is odd that she would still be alive when the dwarfs got home. Although probably she had even air to live, but was passed out.
  • Snow White obviously did not learn the first time. This teaches a lesson to always remember a warning. Why the dwarfs were not mad after the second time means that they must have immense patience.
  • At least she was somewhat careful this time, but she shouldn’t have even opened the window.
  • The dwarfs had just let her into their hearts when she was taken away. Though weeping for three days is a bit unrealistic. Just as unrealistic as the animals coming to weep as well. Though symbolically it could represent her unnatural death.
  • The emphasis on her beauty instead of her compassion or gentleness is depressing.
  • Although the end shows that karma comes eventually to the wicked.

Even though this tale is quite morbid (though not as much as some) it teaches lessons unlike some of the newer books and movies. There is a clear lesson on trusting people, and being cautious.
